Summer Adventures in Plymouth

Tinside Lido in Plymouth
My best buddy and I have been saying we'd love to go to the Lido in Plymouth for years and we finally made the time to go this summer.
Plymouth Sound
Luckily the weather was absolutely beautiful when we went - Plymouth Hoe was looking particularly stunning and the views out across the Sound were just perfect.

Tinside Lido was opened in the 1930s and was closed in the 1990s but reopened 10 years ago after a huge refurbishment.
It still retains many of the Art Deco features which is lovely and it is full of character.

We asked the lifeguard if it was cold and she said it was... but it was warmer than the sea.... Every cloud and all that!!

I volunteered to get in first but it took me about 10 minutes to submerge myself because it was soooo cold!!
S was braver and jumped in but the cold took her breath away.

We took my GoPro along for a giggle (don't worry, we got permission and signed a form) so we were trying to get pictures of us under the water but because it was sea water, we were able to float very easily so our underwater pictures meant we rose arse first to the surface!
Much laughter ensued and S was laughing at my inability to swim underwater without holding my nose or opening my eyes. She had borrowed my goggles so next time, I'll wear my goggles and a nose clip!

After half an hour, we were starting to turn blue so got out into the lovely warm summer evening air.
S insisted on an ice cream on the way back to the car... we felt like such tourists but we had an amazing evening and I'm so glad we have finally been to Tinside.
I can't wait to go back another (sunny) day!
